Steps
- Prepare your workspace by covering it with a drop cloth or plastic sheeting.
- Mix the resin and hardener according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to measure carefully and mix thoroughly.
- If desired, add glitter, paint, or other embellishments to the resin mixture. Mix well.
- Pour the resin mixture into the silicone molds. Be sure to fill the molds to the desired thickness.
- Use a heat gun or torch to remove any bubbles from the resin. Be careful not to overheat the resin or the molds.
- Allow the resin to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions. This may take several hours or overnight.
- Once the resin has cured, remove the plates from the molds. If necessary, use a craft knife to trim any excess resin.
- Sand the edges of the plates with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough spots.
- If desired, add a layer of clear resin to the top of the plates to give them a glossy finish. Allow the resin to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Your customized resin plates are now ready to use or display!
Tips
- Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area when using resin.
- Wear gloves to protect your hands from the resin.
- Use a silicone mold release spray to make it easier to remove the plates from the molds.
- Experiment with different colors, glitter, and embellishments to create unique designs.
- If you're using a torch to remove bubbles, be sure to keep the flame moving to avoid scorching the resin.
- If you're adding a layer of clear resin to the top of the plates, be sure to mix it carefully and apply it evenly to avoid drips or uneven spots.
